This place is a solid 4 stars in my book.
- Location and ambiance (5 stars): There's a public parking lot a few steps away, and being dropped off by an Uber was easy. The interior is warm and open with long wooden tables nicely section so you still get some sense of intimacy at your table.
- Service (5 stars): Everyone from the front desk staff, to our waiter, and even the water/bus guys were super nice and attentive. We had a group of 7 and were admittedly a bit slow to order because we were having a mini reunion and had tons to catch up on. Our waiter was very patient and even gave us complimentary cinnamon cookies.
- Food (High 3 to 4 stars): Everything we had was good, but nothing was super memorable. We ordered:
Shaking beef (my favorite) - the meat was nice and tender and the flavors were great.
Edamame - great flavors!
Drunken noodles and Pad Thai - both were standard
Singapore fried rice - just ok IMO
Asian Caesar Salad - a bit too much dressing and and salty for my taste
Green Papaya and cucumber salad - I like this over the Caesar, but if we come back, I would opt to try a different salad
Fried Calamari - the texture of the calamari was great (not too chewy or dry), however it was a bit too heavily breaded for my taste.
Fried Chicken Rolls - just meh
French fries - just meh -

I'm so so surprised at the high reviews this place has on yelp! First the positives:
-Ambience is great, it has a very nice romantic/communal vibe to it.
-Staff can be friendly. We had one who was super friendly and the other one was just meh. So I'm conflicted.
Umm that's it. That's where the positives end.
Food- Dreadful!! Seriously, How are they calling themselves Asian fusion when nothing Asian tasted good. The drunken noodles were bland, the papaya salad is by far the worst I've ever eaten (and I've eaten loads!!) The butternut squash dumpling was uneventful.
Drinks- I ordered a mocktail, the cucumber cooler and it was bleh. Maybe they're better with their cocktails but if a restaurant can't their non-alcoholic drinks right is a no go for me.
Also, as a vegetarian, I rang the restaurant earlier and specifically asked them if they could cater for vegetarian food and they said everything was customisable, only for us to come in and be told "everything is premade and they couldn't change items". Overall, it was a sad, expensive meal with very limited, unappetising options and we won't be returning! -

Overcooked and burnt satay and fried rice.
As a food adventurist, I can say that this is so far the worst Asian restaurant I've experienced in the great bay area. -

Seems like this is the place to go for happy hour! My partner and I arrived around 5pm and the place was pretty packed already. Thankfully we got seated immediately. Do note that they seat you in separate areas depending on if you're there for happy hour or for dinner. Since there were just two of us, we got seated at the community table, which we didn't mind at all.
My partner got his fill of $1 oysters and was really happy. There is definitely a variety of sizes though so it depends on your luck to see if you get served tiny oysters or not. The other happy hour bites were super good as well! I love the corn fritters, just cause I love corn in general. But they were deep fried in delicious batter with a great dipping sauce.
The butternut squash dumplings are not completely vegetarian as the sauce contained shellfish (I'm assuming fish sauce is used). However they were delicious and filling. Ordering naan to dip in the curry sauce that came with the dumplings was a great idea. -

What a mainstay. This Kitchen and Bar has been around for as long as I can remember. Some people might call it a tourist trap, but it's hard not to be when you're in the center of downtown.
The environment is kitschy Asian, but it's large with room on three floors.
The food and the drinks are great - tourist trap notwithstanding. My go-to food is the corn fritter - HUGE balls of giant kernels. You won't know what to expect if you've never had these. Definitely order.
My go-to drink is the "Shiro Scroll" - avua chachaca prata, joto sake, condensed milk, mango puree, edible rice paper, and activated charcoal "ink." It's a beautiful, tasty drink that's supposed to remind you of white rabbit milk candy!
